Reclaim Advantage! Reclaim Life! Fundraising Friday: Well Done Boston!
Boston Senior Home Care is a private, community-based, non-profit organization that provides care management serves and programs to low-income elders and disabled individuals who have basic daily living needs (e.g., bathing, dressing, grocery shopping, and meal preparation, etc.) and want to remain at home. Each year, we help over 7000 individuals through our various programs and services.
When I worked at the VA as a social worker, I was blessed to partner with Boston Sr. Home Care to support my elderly veterans and their families. There were many complex psychosocial needs that needed to be attended to. When I picked up the phone and dialed 617-451-6400 there was always somebody there to work with me to ensure that needs were met for the veteran to live independently and safely in the community.
After an immensely successful ‘Taste of the Town’ fundraiser in 2014, Boston Senior Home Care is bringing back its one-night celebration of Boston’s culinary scene and most sought-after restaurants in the form of ‘Well Done Boston’. Along with showcasing the restaurants representing the neighborhoods and communities we serve, our goal for this event is to raise $150,000 dollars for our client discretionary fund. This fund supports Boston Senior Home Care consumers who are in need of assistance with such items as clothing, bedding, furnishings, transportation, medicine, utility costs, and temporary short term shelter when no other means of financial support exist.
“Well Done Boston” will feature offerings from some of Boston’s finest restaurants, as well as a live and silent auction. Jenny Johnson, NESN’s Dining Playbook co-host, will serve as this year’s emcee, once again.
