Fisher House Boston Fund Raiser - Olde Fashion Country "Rockin" Good Time

When Alan Dyer received the call that Fisher House Boston had a Boston Marathon bib for him and wanted him to run again, he did what any other soldier would do. He cancelled his surgery for total knee replacement, did not give a second thought to the fact that he had a history of a cervical spine fracture and began training.

I wrote about Alan and his 2016 Boston Marathon run in a previous blog post. Since then I've been blessed to get to know him better as we are working in tandem to sell out the Olde Fashion Country "Rockin" Good Time fundraiser happening this Thursday, 3/10 from 7-9pm at Loretta's Last Call, 1 Lansdowne Street, Boston.

"Join the Fisher House Boston Marathon Team as we get down with an Olde Fashion Country "Rockin" Good Time, with the Country Mile Band. The Country Mile Band performs at Loretta's regularly and typically sells the place out. They are also headliners at Toby Keith's. The price of your ticket includes entrance to Loretta's, Great Country Music, Appertizers, as well as Prizes for the best Country Line Dancers, and Couples Country Dancers. We will also have amazing silent auction items. The monies raised from this fund raiser goes directly to Fisher House Boston."

On the grounds of the West Roxbury VA Medical Center, The Fisher House Boston is a home away from home where our military families can stay while a loved one is receiving in house treatment at one of our medical centers. Any family member or loved one of an active military or Veteran's family, wartime or peacetime, is eligible to stay at the Fisher House.

The Fisher House Boston enables family members to be close to loved ones at the most stressful times. Fisher House Boston is there to assist families in need and to ensure that they are provided with the comforts of home in a supportive environment. There is NO Charge for any family to stay at a Fisher House. We are completely committed to helping those who have served for us and for our country. We believe these men and women are our National Treasures! Fisher House is a Four Star Charity, with an A+ rating.

Alan is going the distance 26.2 miles to be exact for the families of those who served and protected and defended our freedom.

Here he is at the Super Hero 17 miler representing the US Coast Guard:

Yes that is how he did his long run on 2/28!

And another photo from that day to inspire you with this caption from Alan:
Best Marathon Team on the Planet. We will run all day long for the men and women of our military and their families!

Alan said it best, "Keeping families together as their injured / wounded loved one is being treated results in faster healing. Remember the "greatest healing power is the power of love." Its time to show our love."

So don't delay - buy your tickets today by following this link. Show your love and support for those who made the ultimate sacrifice so we can live and breathe in freedom.
